History

Founded in the late 60's by Kenneth Dyson and Brian Green, K. Dyson Funeral Service was originally known as Dyson and Green.

Specialising in hand-crafted joinery and woodworking, Kenneth decided to build a chapel of rest onto the joinery shop in the early 70's, after endless enquiries regarding undertaking.

Andrew Dyson, the present proprietor, joined the family business in 1981 and in 1986, Kenneth and Andrew purchased Dennis Murrain's business in New Road, Deepcar, Stocksbridge, after Dennis' retirement.

Sadly, in February 1994, Kenneth passed away. His body is buried in Midhope Churchyard in a family vault.

In May of 1994, Peter Brailsford joined the family business as manager over the two chapels. Peter was born and raised in Stocksbridge and has been a family friend all his life.

This all helps to provide the continuity of a dedicated family-orientated funeral business.
